Skilled Migrant & Green List Visas: How We Can Help

New Zealand offers several residence pathways for skilled professionals, including the Skilled Migrant Category, Straight to Residence and Work to Residence. The best pathway depends on your occupation, qualifications, professional registration, remuneration and New Zealand work experience.
What are the main skilled residence pathways?
The Skilled Migrant Category is a points-based residence pathway for people with skilled employment in New Zealand. Green List pathways are designed for eligible people working in specified occupations. Tier 1 roles may provide a Straight to Residence pathway, while eligible Tier 2 roles may lead to Work to Residence after the required period of qualifying work.
Every case is different. Being in a skilled role or having an occupation listed does not automatically guarantee approval. You must meet the requirements that apply to the specific occupation and visa category, as well as health, character and other immigration requirements.
How JZ Immigration and Education can help
We assess your occupation, employment and background against the current residence instructions. We can calculate potential Skilled Migrant Category points, check Green List requirements and identify any gaps before you commit to an application.
We review job offers, employment agreements, position descriptions, qualifications, occupational registration, remuneration evidence and New Zealand work history. Where a partner or dependent children are included, we also help organise the supporting family documents.
We prepare and lodge the application, manage communication with Immigration New Zealand, respond to requests for further information and keep you informed throughout the process.
When should you get advice?
Get advice early if you are choosing between more than one pathway, your occupation title does not neatly match the official classification, you need an overseas qualification assessed, your remuneration changes, or your previous application has raised concerns.
Immigration settings change regularly, so the current rules should always be checked against your individual circumstances before you apply.
